Which Open Comb?

To follow up on the thread soliciting input regarding an open comb vs. a slant, I am wondering how different open combs compare. Specifically, a NEW vs. one or many of the Merkur open combs available new such the #12, 11C, etc.

A New is a some what mild razor. There is - however - a long tooth version of the New that is more aggressive. I have both and I prefer the more aggressive variant.

As a follow-up, here is a custom New that was made for me by a member. The head is a circa 1932 New head and a handle made from scratch, both freshly nickel plated. This baby shaves like a dream. It has a nice hefty weight to it.

That is really helpful. I have been thinking of getting one of those from bob's. And it helps me to know what to look for in an original.

My opinion - the Bob's razor is worth EVERY PENNY. If you want to spend less - the super speed is a GREAT value - and they are plentiful.
