Oh goodness... Are we just talking IPAs or can we get into DIPAs? Alchemy Hour from Great Lakes is amazing. So is Hoptimum from Sierra Nevada. Surly Furious... Odell Myrcenary, Bell's Hopslam, Bell's Two Hearted, Smuttynose IPA.
Why only have one favorite? Its like having quintuplets and only liking one.
Dogfish Head 90m IPA - I love this stuff and it has supplanted Sierra Nevada IPA as my favorite. It isnt a "volume consumption" beer and definitely skews toward the cooler months, but it is perfect for sanding off the edges of a rough day.
Canadian guy here with a bit of an IPA fetish. While I could ramble on about what's good, great etc I recently got back from a trip to Vermont and had my mind BLOWN!!!!
If you ever get a chance to drink anything by Hill Farmstead do yourself that favour. Especially if it's the Edward or the Society and Solitude. Both of them made me want to jump over the bar and hug the bartender.
No DIPAs? Still tough. In no order of preference, Bridgewater, Stone, Victory HopDevil, Hub (forgot the beer's name, had it on draft in Portland) DFH 60 min... that's just five. Imperial wise, Rogue IPA squared, Walking Man Homo Erectus, Three Floyds Dreadnaught, Victory Hop Wallop, Stone Ruination. I've always wanted to try Pliny the Elder/Younger from RR but here in Beer Hell, FL it's impossible to find.
Its hard to tell my favorite IPA. We have gone to only drinking local beer and what I brew. We love the IPA that I brew, Its like the ninkasi IPA but not as bright. Love the Fire on the mountain IPA(local, only on tap in the wing joints) Deschutes Hop Henge, HUB(hopworks urban brewery) IPA is also good. The stone ruination is good, not great, but good. Tried the dogfish head and it was not what I was after, not hoppy enough. We seem to make really big IPA here in Portland. This is all I could think of with out the google to help me remember what I have had.
Laguintas Sucks (name of beer) is great, for those that like Bell's Hopslam, this is the value beer at $9.99 for a six pack as opposed to around $20 for Hopslam. Founders All Day IPA is pretty great too and at only 4.7% alcohol, it definitely lives up to its name.
