Which Gillette blade?

Hi folks,

I usually shave with either Feather or Astra SP but fancy giving Gillette blades a go.

For my everyday routine, I prefer an outright sharp blade but know that some people enjoy smoothness as much. So which Gillettes do you enjoy using and how do they rate for these features?

EDIT:

I would also be interested in other brand suggestions for sharpness & smoothness, besides Gillette.

I use Feathers (and only Feathers)... WCS has all the Gillette blades for cheap in 5 packs, along with some other blades as well. I'm getting 8 different kinds and going to blade sample pack it up (8 packs for 20 bucks...) However I to want to hear what people say..

Astra SP is a Gillette blade (made in PPI), but I think you'd enjoy Gillette Silver Blue. It's smoother than Astra SP (which, already, is very smooth) and very sharp - to be honest, I can't tell the difference in sharpness between them and Feathers.

Gillette 7 O'Clock Super Platinum Black Package (India) or Gillette 7 O'Clock Super Platinum Blue Package (Russia). I prefer the black package blades a little more than the blue package blades.

For me, they are the closest blades to the legendary vintage blades, which are themselves unequaled by anything currently made.

Gillette Rubies are, for me, a really smooth and sharp blade.

All of the Gillette 7 O'clock blades are pretty good, Russia, India, Thailand, Brazil, does not matter which.

The India made blades seem to get the most raves

7 O'clock black and 7 O'clock Permasharp greens (not the stainless greens that are made in Russia)

+1, the GSB is a really nice blade, but I also enjoy anything made by PPI that I've tried so far(astra, 7 o'clock blue, 7 o'clock green super stainless, GSB) Im sure the rest of their offerings are just as good

havn't tried the Indian 7 o'clocks yet but from all the reviews they sound pretty good

welcome to the world of DE blades, so many to chose from, its fun just to try them all

+1 on Gillette Silver Blue. Other prospects - my vote goes to Personna Labs. And once again we are proving TAYGWV - The Advice You Get Will Vary.

Silver Blues and 7o'clock yellows are really nice, both adequately sharp and very smooth.

I have used the blacks and yellows. The blacks are smooth but not as sharp as the yellows, IMHO.

Give SuperMax Super Platinum a try; very smooth.

The Gillette Blacks are the best I have found. Just a great shave every time.

sharpness... yellows or blacks by gillette.
smoothness... yellows or blacks by gillette. Also, IP Reds, Voskhods, and Rapiras(platinum lux) are nice. What's crazy to me is that the Supermax super platinums are actually really smooth and remind me of IP reds. I just tried these recently.

7 O'Clock Super Platinum Black (best sharp/smooth balance of the current Gillette blades)
Super Iridium (sharper and smoother, win-win)
Red Israeli Personna (sharp enough but not like the other two, but one of the smoothest)

Gillette Bleue Extra, also from PPI. It's my go to blade at the moment, feels similar to Astra SP.
I picked those up in France, don't know if they are available elsewhere...

I tried the 7 o'clock yellows and greens last weeks and they shave my skin whilst letting my beard almost intact. In fact I found both so bad that I won't try Gillettes again. My YMMV was very short, but yours may differ entirely.

You sir must have copper wire growing from your face, the 7 o'clock greens shaved my thick tough beard quite well

7 O'Clock Blues and Silver Blues are my favorite. I guess you can say I have "the blues"...
