Which blades for a friend?

A friend of mine wants to try the DE again. He's 72 years old, uses a Sensor and hasn't touched a DE in probably 30 or more years. He learned on one back in the '50's, and used it for maybe 20+ years (experimented with injectors and such too).

I'm going to loan him a '54 Flare Tip Super Speed (so far unable to convince him to ditch the goo, though he used to use a brush and mug). He picked the flare tip as it's what he thinks he may have learned on. I have the "Everything" blade sampler from West Coast Shaving. Giving him two blades plus the razor and a bottle of witch hazel to try out. But the real question is, which two blades? Two of the same? The Derby's are out, as I started with them and only have one left. I want one to revisit after I've sampled others.

Red Pack Israeli's? Any of the others? (I've got 11 more choices....). Should I just give him a couple of the Merkurs that nearly everyone here hates? Dorco? I'd sort of like to give him something I've got 10 of. Especially if I give him two of the same. Suggestions?

Red Pack IP's
Crystal

My two recommendations, simply because I swear by the comfort of the Israeli blades, and it is pretty hard to get weepers/nicks/irritation.

I just looked at the everything sampler again, but you might want to also try the IP's and something sharper like the Astra's just to give him two totally different options.

I think that Derby's and Red IP's are the two blades that get most consistent positive comments from reviewers here.

Thanks guys. I think I'll give him a couple of Red pack IP's. (currently trying them myself) Probably ordering 100 for myself anyway. Then again, haven't gotten a BBS yet this week (but several really comfortable BBS with the '40's Super Speed week going on). I'll try some others next week (Tech week ) and see. And I'll offer him a Feather if he feels he needs something sharper.
