Which blade do I have - lab blue or med prep?

I have one or the other of these Personna blades that I bought as part of sampler and I absolutely love them...problem is, the package they're in isn't really marked (it's a plain white blade dispenser) and the only identification on the blade is "platinum"....do any of you know if these are the Lab Blue or the Med Prep blades? Thanks.

Neither....

Those are commonly known as Personna Barber blades and are packaged in bulk (100 and 200 count cartons)

They are made in the same factory in Verona Virgina as the "meds" and "labs" (these are forum names not what Personna calls them)

This is what the actual "meds" and "labs" look like (in and out of package)

They could also be Personna Crystal blades.

As stated above a pic would go a long ways in helping to tell you what they actually are.

Unfortunatley I don't have the blades with me or I'd post a pic...they are in a plain white plastic blade dispenser...the dispenser has no markings and the only thing it says on the blade is "platinum"....it doesn't say Personna or anything else on the blade...oh, and the blade does have an arrow on it like the one pictured in the post directly previous to this post...

...also, I purchased them from westcoastshaving.com...after looking through the Personna bades they sell, it looks like the ones I have are the lab blues...or least that looks like the same packaging....I want to order 100 of them and I want to make sure I'm getting the right blade...maybe this will help...of all the Personna blades, which one is the sharpest?

You don't have labs or meds. Reread the posts above.

You likely have what has been passing for crystals lately (barbers) or something like dcobranchi posted. Without pictures, you are going to either not know exactly what you have, or get the wrong thing.

Rest assured, as someone who swears by personna labs, you don't have labs or meds, or anything close. I've used the 'no marking' crystals, and cannot stand them, of course, ymmv.

:)

Well....never seen that packaging before. Hmmm.....

I generally trust WCS with no questios asked. So, I have to recuse myself from this discussion as "not smart enough at this time to contribute meaningfully"

:)

Goo luck! Will be watching to see the outcome....

The ones you got from westcoastshaving.com, I bought them too. They have arrows going across with no mention of the brand name on the blade. I loved those blades, and I did tons of research on what they were. By looking at what the blade composition is: stainless steel with comfort coating, those are supposedly the Personna Supers or Personna Lab/Med. The ones with a Platinum Chrome on them, they are something else.

However, I bought 100 lab blades after buying the 5 pack dispenser, but they don't feel like they are the same blades to me. I absolutely love the 5 pack that westcoastshaving sells. But I'm not convinced they are the labs, even though by all the information we have they should be.

I guess what I'll do is just order a sample pack of each then buy the 100 pack after I find the one I like best...

Upon further reveiew...I went back to the WCS site and found that they don't sell the sample packs of the Med preps...I also looked closer at the box for the 100 count lab blues and I noticed it says "Personna' on the blade, not "platinum"....so I now I'm thinking these blades are not Personnas at all....could they be Crystals?

West Coast themselves answered in a previous thread on this, and according to Personna, those in the plain white dispenser and the bulk packed 100 blades are the same blade, only the printing/packaging is different. WCS also stated that Personna seems to like to randomly changing packaging, making things more confusing for us (and for WCS).

I also fell in love with the blades in the white dispenser, and picked up the bulk 100 pack box. I can't say I can really feel any difference between them, but I wasn't able to test them side by side. I've also recently picked up some of the personna med's, and again, they shave the same to me as the other two blue packaged blades.

I think that was my thread you were referring to. I still don't think the ones I got are Labs, but Barbers. I don't think this is the fault of WCS, I just think its Personna screwing around with things. Hate to say it, but some big (and not necessarily good) changes are probably in store now that Energizer owns them.

If I indeed received Labs, they're not a blade for me. The shave I experienced with one was mediocre at best.

Blade choice is one of the huge factors where not any single one works for everyone. lol So far I have yet to try any Personna's with blue packaging that didn't perform at the top of the list for me.
