Which artisan makes your favorite soap?

Generally, we see a lot of comparisons made regarding the upper end ...and of course Tabac, i'd like to see what you fella's like within our community.

Base your opinions on:
  • Cushion
  • Glide & Slickness
  • Scent
  • Stability

Here is a cursory list:
  • My Time Bath & Body
  • Prarie Creations
  • Saint Charles Shave
  • Gentlemans Best
  • The Gentlemans Quarter
i'd prefer to keep this poll sans the glycerin soaps myself, let me know if you feel differently.

So far I've only tried Mama Bear Soap and have been quite happy with it. I like these for the stronger and intoxicating scents and the very good shave. Are they say as good as Tabac, MWF, Speick, and the like. Not really, but the trade off is more than worth it. I find MB to be slick, adequately protective, easy to make a good lather, and with great scents.

Saint Charles Shave. I especially like Sue's milks. :thumbup1:

What Andrew said...he's the one that turned me on to SCS, and I'm very grateful...fantastic products, from soaps to balms. Josh, as far as your four criteria go:

cushion: on par with many tallow based soaps for me, though not as creamy in texture
glide and slickness: glide is great, due to the clays, but they don't feel as superslick as a glycerin heavy soap. I don't really consider glide and slickness to be the same thing, so...
scent: varies, but I like all of the ones I've tried (8 or 9 so far). Some are sublime - savory rose, bleached wood, and town & country being my faves.
stability: I assume you're asking how well the lather holds up? If so, not bad at all...I rarely have to reload the brush, and I always have enough rich lather for four passes and more. It doesn't break down as easily as most glycerin based soaps either.

I've never tried any of these soaps...but only because I have so many other soaps to go through before I think about buying any more.

I've used soaps from all the B&B oriented artisans, have come to favor soaps from HoneyBee_Spa and Saint Charles Shave. All are good, but these two are standouts. Recommended.

If we're staying away from the glycerin soaps, then I agree. Just tried her soap for the first time recently, in Austin's Blend of all scents. Excellent soap.

I have an inkling I'll have a new favorite soon, as that is just how this hobby of ours works.

I have quite a few soaps and creams in my den, but I find myself reaching for Saint Charles Shave soap more and more frequently. It's really nice soap and I get a great shave every time.

Get back to me when I've tried them all, haha. What, give a guy a break, I only have so much fun money a month!

TGQ. I give the slight edge over Mama Bear and PC. I will not stop using any of them though. The Blackberry Sage, Desert Ironwood, and Oak and Moss are the best scents I have come across.

SCS soaps are outstanding products. Great cushion, very slick and moisturizing. Nice selection of scents as well.
