Which Allen Edmonds store?

I'm going to Alexandria in August and was wondering which AE store would be better:
Downtown D.C. or the one in Reston VA?

They are probably the same. Which shoe(s) are you looking to purchase? Some of them, such as the Park Avenue (my favorite), go on sale at specific times of the year.

I have no AE store in my area, so my first goal is to spend a little time with a master fitter.

I'm retired and usually wear jeans, so I'm looking for shoes that will fit that bill. On my list: Banchory, Shelton, Long Branch boots, Wilbert, Fenway, Randolph cordovan loafers (maybe a stretch, but I think they will work), Mctavish and Ridgeway.

I obviously don't want to purchase all these shoes at once - but I'm under the impression that some lasts will work better with my feet than others.

I'm three hours from Boston and understand I can get Park Avenue's at their sales events.

I currently have about 35 pair of mostly Johnson and Murphy with a few Cole Haan. The J&M Aristocraft cap toes fit well and are holding up just fine, but the rest don't fit well enough to make me happy. I generally wear 10 1/2 E and most casual shoes don't come in an E width (I usually find D or EE).

I have no idea about either store, but depending on your size and what is available in store you might want to plan on visiting both. Of course you should probably start with the store that is most conveniently located to other shops or places you are interested in visiting, but if you find a style that you like but they don't have the next size up or down to try on for comparison, or you want an alternate color, you may find yourself visiting store #2. I say that based on my experience visiting one store which had a good selection, but still not complete enough to compare and contrast.
