Where to get cloth component material?

Myself and a bunch of buddies are all getting into straight razor shaving. We have started with some cheaper stuff off ebay but are gradually improving our equipment.

We all have birthdays around the start of the year so what I wanted to do was make as all a better quality strop to use than the ones we have now which are skinny and probably not the best leather.

I can get good leather easily where I live but one thing I am having real trouble finding is the cloth, either cotton or linen, like they use on strops. I would like to get it either 2.5" or 3" wide and in a roll, or however it comes before it is "strop linen". I found some for sale by the piece on another forum sold as strop linen component but the price was way too high. I don't mind buying more than I need for now as long as the price is fair.

Can anybody direct me to a website where I could order strips of this material by the yard or meter? It would be a real help. Thank you.

Locally I struck out at fabric shops, but they referred me to a shop that does boat refurbishment. Score! A 5 ft piece for $5. So check out any place that does upholstry work or custom boat or auto work.

Is that for like a 3" strip, or a sheet of canvas, or what? What kind of surface?

It is a 3" wide strip of what I assume is cotton webbing. It is absolutely perfect for a strop, and works great. And for $5 I got enough for two strops. It was the only piece he had at the time or I would have bought more.
