The Cork Oak tree!. thats right, cork comes from a tree!. all these years drinking wine and i had no idea the cork came from a dang ole tree.

that's ok. I was in my mid20's when my first kid was born 3.5 months early. I asked the nurse if his belly button would ever untie. idiot. but hey, I had a lot on my mind....

When we were kids I told my brother that if you didn't tie off the umbilical cord the baby would fly around the room until it deflated, just like a balloon. I think he was quite old before he started to question that one.
Cork must come from Sweden, right?

man made i guess. when im about to drink a bottle of wine the last thing on my mind is "hmmm where does cork come from?"
it was interesting watching them harvest it.
There's a lot of cork trees in Spain (or is it Portugal?) When I was there the tour guide was yelling at us not to pick at the tree.
Everyone wanted to touch it.
Mind you, she might have been cross because the tree was like 200 years old or something.

To bad most bottles are being corked with synthetic ones. It's better for the environment they say.

There are many other uses for cork than stopping up a wine bottle.
