Where can one buy brush handles only? (to use with knots)

I searched and googled, but I only could find blanks to fabricate your own handles, but I couldn't find any website that sells handles only (with no knots) so I can use my knots with them.

Does a website selling handles only exist? (resin/wood/etc...)

Thanks.

No, these are "turning blanks" used to fabricate the handles :\

It seems nobody sells just the handles.

There are some Members here who'll turn handles for you. I got one done by Bullseye. Or if you aren't picky, cheap vintage brushes with crappy knots but undamaged handles sell for <$10 on eBay pretty much every couple hours. Could probably buy a VDH for $4 at CVS and rip the knot out of it if you really wanted to.

Rudy Vey will make you one out of whatever material you like, and there are some folks, like cooncatbob, that turn nice wooden handles. Any of the custom brush makers around B&B will make a handle for you. There are many of them around, but these are the two that sprang to mind. No affiliation.

Thanks SOL.

Does the badger knobs pretty much just "slide" in the handle with the same diameter?

I have no idea how to assemble them:blush:

Thanks andrew, I was looking more for something on the cheap to assemble my own Golden Nib Silvertip. I figured with a cheap handle, and a high quality Grade A Silvertip know, I can assemble a high quality brush for ~35$.

and it might even rival a Rooney :p

I think you want the hole in the handle to be about 1 (or 2?) mm larger in diameter than your knot diameter, so that there's room for epoxy/glue/whatever.

I have seen threads where one guy made a handle out of a wooden candle holder from a hobby shop. Another guy made a handle out of a faucet knob from the hardware store awhile back.

If you don't know what you're doing, I'd save some more $ and get someone to put together a brush for you or buy a commercially made brush.

You can buy vintage handles from the bay, yard sales, antique shops, etc. Pull the old knot, restore, and reknot it. Awesome. Search the Shaving Brushes section for some great examples.
