What's new

When I am not making strops.....other workshop fun.

Speaking of horse butts…
One of my other big interests is woodworking. I have made lots of wooden projects over the years both as a business and hobby (I used to build wet plate collodion process cameras for reenactors and art photographers). I am having fun right now with a batch of chopsticks for Christmas presents and at some point possibly for sale. been using Curly Maple, Walnut, Paduak, Wenge and Quatersawn Maple. The ones shown are Chinese style with fatter tips, Japanaese chopsticks tend to have more slender tips and am doing some of those as well. These taper from square to ocatagonal and about 5mm at the tip. Pyramid finiales and mineral oil finish.

Most of my work is now done with hand tools but the rough blanks were done on a small bandsaw then hand planed in a jig to make the taper, ocatagonal tips and finiales. Will add to this thread with other projects as I complete them.
