What's new

What's your post shave order?

Not that I know. It does restore oils to the skin that are removed by everything else in the process.

Remember to forget me!
1) Alum, only if needed. Very rarely used.
2) Balm, or aftershave lotion, or neither. Never both.
3) EdT occasionally, but not if anything else I'd used is scented.

A lot of the time, I won't use anything.

Cold water
Aftershave
moisturizer

If I’m going to splurge on a cologne I’ll use tiger balm instead of a splash because it doesn’t interfere with the colognes.

  1. Alum
  2. Post shave oil
  3. Lightweight lotion
  4. Aftershave or scent
The oil is my own concoction. Lightweight and quickly absorbed and does the majority of the post shave repair and conditioning.

Warm rinse
Lather soak
Cold rinse
Alum if the shave was rough
Generic witch hazel
Thayer’s Medicated
Aftershave of choice
Frag of choice, if any

1. rinse with very warm water
2. use a styptic pencil if needed
3. rinse with cold water
4. wait 5 mins
5. apply aftershave
6. before going to bed (about 3 hrs after shaving apply aftershave balm

Alum.

No. I don't wash it off. Why would I? It is a fantastically effective antibacterial substance.

I also use it as a deoderant immediately after a shower. It is effective because...well, underarm odor comes from the...er...excrement, shall we say...of bacteria. Alum creates an environment in which bacteria simply cannot exist. That's why it is a good deodorant. Why would I wash that off?

Afterwards comes the Afta balm. Then, maybe, a splash.

But the alum stays, baby. It stays!

Cold water rinse
Thayers witch hazel
Balm
Aftershave
Lotion with spf protection
Edt

I clean up my stuff between steps so it has time to soak in before the next step.
