It's interesting reading everyone's passions about their decorticate accoutrements, but it gets me wondering, what is the distribution of shaving instrument classifications across this group? So, I thought I'd post a little poll. Realizing that your current equipment may have something to do with your relative experience, perhaps you could also comment on that too. Anticipating that some vary their line-up, which would you rate as your favorite and then perhaps comment on your rotation.

That said, what's your favorite razor type?
1. Straight
2. Safety - Slant
3. Safety - Open Comb
4. Safety - Closed Comb
5. Injector
6. Cartridge (e.g. M3)
7. Electric
8. Other

Okay, I'll start...

I'm a nood, about a month into it. My implement of choice is an open comb safety.

So far I have only tried open comb and closed comb and I prefer closed comb

I find the teeth on an open comb to be too rough on my face. Not that it leaves any marks it's just not as smooth an comfortable as a closed comb.

Straight!

I also voted electric because I wanted to be the only guy on here to do it.

I own a single DE, and have used it to good effect, but it doesn't get a lot of play time.

As of right now I love my DE closed-comb, but if I'm in a situation where I need a shave in 2 minutes because I over-slept, it's the electric. I use it less than once a month, so I didn't even vote for it. I want to move into straights at some point, but I find them intimidating and think I should get more experience with DE's first.

I switch back and forth from the slant to the open-comb about equally. Variety is the spice of life, and I want to keep a spicy face.

I have to go with the open comb... Love the design, love the way it works!

For me it's a single-edge closed comb. Nothing delivers a closer, irritation-free shave for my beard and skin type than a 1912 type single edge razor.

I prefer closed comb/safety bar type razors. I have a Merkur #157 open comb. Its fine but I think I get a better shave with the Merkur #42 1904 closed comb.

I voted for straight and closed comb. I am just starting to straight shave, so right now I still prefer my closed comb.

I was sitting in the public library on Thurmon Street just now, skimming through 'Rogue Herries' by Horace Walpole, when suddenly I came over all peckish. Esurient. Eee I were all hungry, like! So I thought to myself, 'a little fermented curd will do the trick'. So I curtailed my Walpolling activites, sallied forth and infiltrated your place of purveyance to negotiate the vending of some cheesy comestibles.

What no choice for an adjustable?

MERGRESS hands down favorite.

You're right. My appologies. I totally spaced the adjustables. Actually, it was on my list and when I actually typed the poll, I spaced it. Now I don't think I can change the poll. Perhaps we can just continue the way we have as voting for other and noting that you use an adjustable.

Sharpened clamshell does it for me.
