What's new

What's your favourite item in your shave den.....

.....That is NOT a brush, razor, blade, soap or cream?
We talk a lot about the aforementioned items.
What about the others?
An alum block, a grocery store brand AS?
maybe you found a particular styptic pencil that works well?
Let's hear about those hidden treasures!

For example, I love my L'Oreal AS lotion. It's not sold in any shave shop online or any specialty store. I buy it at the grocery store.

$3 glass sugar bowls from Walmart. Mill the soap into them and I have a spare I have been using to lather cream in since I broke my nice bowl.

Not shave related at all but a framed watercolor painting of a bonsai tree my mom got me years ago that hangs above my shelf.

Granted, mine is nicer. I swiped that picture from someone else's site.

Aside from that I'd have to say alum block. It's my best friend. Oh and the Clubman Talc.

My handmade skin food that I call skin elixer. I use it for pre and post shaving. I've been experimenting with making it for like a week or two, and am almost done with the formula. Its light really light on the oil and a little goes a really long way. After I get more ingredients Im going to make another batch today and see if I can improve it without going overboard. My girl even used it to shave her legs and really enjoyed it. So that's my favorite thing so far because I made it and it didn't cause any irritation to my sensitive skin.

My homemade witch hazel tonic w/ glycerin and EOs. Now that you make methink, it is the only thing I use every shave. I change, razors, brushes, soap, etc., but always spritz this tonic on after my cold water rinse.

The mirror!

Seriously, I have discovered so many great things since getting rid of the cartridge and finding B+B that I wouldn't know where to start......

I was looking around my bathroom this morning and realized that shaving with a cartridge is really just about the goo in a can and whatever razor is on sale that week. I've used pretty much every cartridge with the same result. So there I am looking at my current setup thinking "now this is shaving".
No goo, no cartridges.
But then it occurred to me that we have some unsung heroes in our dens.
The support structure if you will.
Things that we use every time we shave but often don't even think about.
Or items that make our dens more than just a collection of shaving things.
Items that make shaving an enjoyable past time.

I change my answer. My new Thater brush and scuttle along with my Grundig radio are my favorite things. Sorry Aqua Velva, love cant last forever.
