Muhle R41 or R41 Grande (still deciding)
I'm astounded by this razor after every shave. So close, so efficient, so smooth.

My favorite DE razor is probably my Schick DE razor (aka pre-Krona). It was my late grandfather's. Every time I pick it up I'm impressed with how easy it use to get a DFS. No muss. No fuss. It's not the prettiest razor ever made. I think the head is just unplated stainless steel. But Schick got everything right. It's a real shame that by the time they did so, DE razors were already on their way out.

I'm afraid too say I have more than one:

* Joris OC
* iKon OSS dual head
* Feather AS -01
* Pils 101NE
* Edwin Jagger "Chatsworth" 89 head.

Currently I have to give the top spot to my 1967 Gillette black handle flare. With really sharp blades like Feathers or Lab blues it gives a fantastically close shave with no irritation whatsoever, it also gives very good shaves with almost any blade, but definitely the sharper the better! Close second to either the modern Merkur OC (11c 15c 25c), Blue tip flare or just about any 3 piece Tech, and honorable mention to the Muhle R89.

I find that the extra aggressive cut of heavier razors and ones with more exposed blade don't yield a closer shave for me, so why would I want to use a razor that requires more attention to shave safely with?

Gillette NEW. The Krona is a nice razor as well Deltaboy (I used one exclusively for many years with Schick Platinum blades). I wish I could get those Schick blades for $2.00 a package like I could even in the early to mid 90's (I think they would go great in my NEW). Now $2 will get you one or two blades on eBay and I am too cheap to pay a dollar plus a blade (and you can add shipping charges to that). Even Feathers are obtainable for about 60-70 cents each shipped in bulk.

Right now my Merkur 39C, but i just got a Joris Palladium and need more experience with it to make a fair judgment!

My two favorites are the '40s Aristocrat, and a couple of Knacks that Cooncat refurbished and re-handled. They are amazing.

I favor the vintage Gillettes for the most part.
