"oh haddo, haddo
you are to me

what no other man

could ever be

the stem in my mouth

a puff fills me with glee

haddo, oh haddo

my love - you see

...slurp of thick heady goodness....aaaaahhhhhh.... Haddo...."

Please say that was you.
I would have slit my own throat if I had written that.

No, that wasn't him, but I think it may have been the impetus for his review. Look for a limerick, and a whole lot of sarcasm. That'll be ouch.

As a last resort maybe jar each blend, let it mellow a bit, then stick your nose in and spend some time rating them by "deliciosity". I find most of my okay blends smell similar and taste great, but the really special ones have a depth of smell that okay ones don't possess. The hard part is figuring out what it will taste like with some age on.

The real question is,is there a bad GL Pease blend?

Unfortunately in my opinion there is. I am not a fan of Key Largo. Just sayin'.

On a good note, the list of great GLP blends is very long. Among my favorites are:

Gas Light
Haddo's Delight
Temple Bar
Union Square (phenominally good when aged!)
Sixpence
Chelsea Morning

To name just a few.

My favorites are Haddo's & Jack Knife Plug, and I have a sneaky suspicion Stonehenge Flake is going to be on that list in a year or so, based on the one bowl I sampled. There are a lot of others that are really good - I haven't tried Key Largo yet Bill, but I have yet to come across a GLP blend that I thought was bad.

I think he did some blends for C&D before he went off to seek fame and fortune on his own. Wish I could remember some of the names. I may even still have some.

Nobody mentions Abingdon -- I think it's excellent!
