What's your coffee today? What brew method? Photos

For kicks I pulled the spouted portafilter out today to pull shots. Very cool.

I decided to revisit the James Hoffmann "Ultimate V60 Technique" recipe with my glass Hario V60-01 using a Cafec Abaca filter and Rare Bird Coffee Roasters (Falls Church, VA) - Colombia - Ticuna beans.

I think that recipe probably was not the best choice for the first cup of the day when I was not all that alert as it had more steps than my sleepy mind could remember (especially since I had not used that recipe in years).

That said, even though I missed swirls, stirs and water targets (and time targets as well), I came up with a pretty good cup of coffee.
Now I am trying to decide to repeat my 'mistakes' again with a 1:15 ratio or to try the recipe as described instead.

A good cup of coffee is a good cup of coffee even if the brew recipe was not followed.:cuppa:

I'm having a late afternoon brew, of 6-Cups of Bones AODC, in my 30-OZ Yeti tumbler. Absolutely delicious! :cuppa: I agree with @Flanders the temperatures are starting to finally cool down. I don't want no more heat! 🥵

Today's brew was from a video I watched last night that included a Hario Switch recipe from Sherry Hsu (linked below).

I used the Hario Switch with Rare Bird Coffee Roasters (Falls Church, VA) - Colombia - Ticuna beans and a white tabbed Hario filter (from Japan).
Sherry's recipe was not far off from my 'mistake' brew yesterday though I did not have an immersion phase in yesterday's brew.
Today's brew came out well. I tried it since it had specific settings for the K-Ultra grinder which was helpful.

The other interesting part of this video was that though this recipe did not call for different temperatures between the bloom phase and the rest of the pours, she gave tips on how to manage two different water temperatures with or without two temperature controlled kettles.

Not made for these times.
Good morning, coffee crew.

Mad Priest Dark Night of the Soul. French press. Black. I started my morning with a few shots of Lifeway plain low fat kefir milk.

We're headed up to about 83° in Music City today and I'm seeing an 80% chance of showers today. There's a beautiful TN sunrise outside my window at the moment. About 6 hours of sleep last night. Just a few errands to run today but that's about it. I've got top round roast that's going in the slow cooker later for dinner. Baked sweet potatoes for the side.

Have a blessed Saturday, my friends.

How’s y’all’s a doing?!?!? Me? Well, I’m doing just fine and dandy. This morning it was some cold brew coffee; I bought a bottle of the cold brew from Target the other day. I’ll fix up a pot of the hot brew when mom wakes up. There’s gonna be some pigskins flying through the air today so who says that pigs can’t fly! Just gonna take’er easy and tell a few extra cheesy jokes (mostly the self deprecating variant because this uncle don’t take his self too seriously). Praying that you fellers Saturday wherever and whatever you decide to do on this blessed day is filled with nothing but joy and happiness- peace 🕊️

I shaved a fortune
I've had limited time lately and this thread hasn't gotten enough attention from me.

From my last post until now... nothing has changed for me... same coffee, same French Press, etc., etc., etc..

Until yesterday... out of the blue, our youngest son (the one who got me into wet shaving) sent me a Yeti 64 ounce French Press...in their beautiful greyed blue. I can't tell you how surprised I was (his intent) and how much I love this French Press design... It has a rubber squeegee plunger.... with a little round rubber flap on top that allows the coffee to flow through. It isn't inexpensive and I doubt I'd have ever purchased one for myself.... but I had no idea Yeti even made one.

Instead of making two 1 liter French presses each morning, I can make my wife and I coffee with one plunge... She's been drinking one cup from her French Press... and microwaving the second, not-quite-full cup the next day. She has some hand issues, so I always grind her coffee and put it in her Bodum French Press. This way... she gets a full cup of hot coffee whenever she wants it... after I've made mine. She usually has coffee and breakfast after I've left for work. The OXO glass electric kettle I bought will easily provide enough water for the 64 ounce Yeti French Press even though its supposed limit is 1.7 liters... There's lots of room at the top.. so I can fill it up beyond the "limit" line @ 1.7 liters.

Good morning - good morning, awesome coffee crew! I hope that all of you have been doing well, and for those of you who haven't, I hope that you feel better soon. Today I am having 6-Cups of Bones AODC, in my 30-OZ Yeti tumbler. Absolutely delicious with every sip. :cuppa:

What’s happening captains?!?! I’m up for a little bit so i decided to drink a glass of some of the cold brew coffee that I have left. Listening to a concert featuring the Drive By Truckers on YouTube right now. Just gonna watch some foosball on the boob-tube later on today. If at first you don’t succeed, then try again….and if you do decide to quit don’t fret because there is still time to get back to whatever it was you were doing. Peace 🕊️

G'day all, hope the weekend is treating you well.
Had an espresso with a demitasse spoon of sugar and two demitasse spoons of anisetta liqueur, these beans are a little bland so some extra flavour helps it along.
Yesterday was a latte and some digestive biscuits.
