What's this Ever Ready SE?

Can anyone tell me what model Ever Ready SE this is please?

Model 1924 sometimes referred to as the "Shovel head"...great shaver with high amount of audible feedback on the whiskers.

It does live up to its nickname. I found that it tended to hold water in the head, so make sure you shake it out completely after rinses.

I just got it for £8.30 (about $12.50) on eBay UK :thumbup1:

That's five razors I've picked up in March now - I wasn't planning to buy any, but there have been some decent finds recently.

It arrived today, and it's in pretty nice condition - the hinges are good, the clip is strong, and it closes firmly. It feels quite a substantial razor - I'm looking forward to trying it.

It's a nice razor and congratulations on finding it, Alan. My only complaint about the razor is that at times it is a pain to open the hinge to load a new blade in. Be sure your hands are dry! The hinge on mine clamps the head so tight I have to use a towel to help grip to open it.

I love mine but find it quite aggresive, but as ever ymmv.

Thanks. I've just loaded a blade, and the blade angle and gap do make it look a bit aggressive - but I like aggressive razors like my OCMM, so I hope I'll like this one. Actually, looking closer, the blade angle looks just about right for the "flat on the face" style of shaving.

Yep, having washed it out, I can see that, thanks - the spring area at the back of the head looks like somewhere water might lodge.

So Oscroft........when are you doing a Carbon steel vs SS coated vs SS uncoated blade test?

Hehe, now, that would be interesting - but not easy. The main problem is that the blades aren't available in the UK - all I can get is Gem SS coated. And even with the blades, I don't have two identical SEs to use - though that could be fixed.
