I just hit a personal best and went 4 days without so much as a nick, a cut, or a gouge when shaving. I'm curious to know how long others have gone without drawing blood while shaving.

I've only nocked myself 2 or 3 times in over 2 years. I get a small weeper, a visible drop, maybe once a month, or maybe once very couple of months.

Since I have a heavy rotation of Razors & Blades I go through.....I would say a week. If I stick to my EJ89 only.... I would say almost once a month...

I think some weepers and nicks on imperfections such as small pimples shouldn't count. Even the mildest shaving product, whether or a cartridge or DE can draw blood on such imperfections. Not counting these incidents, I've only drawn blood 2-3 times in about 18 months of DE shaving.

Now irritation from a bad shave is a whole different story. I get occasional irritation from a bad shave, it was particularly bad when I was starting out.

I've been shaving for 50 years and never missed a day. During that time I had about 20 years with a Mach3 cartridge razor and have been back with DE for about 10 years. I can't remember the last time I saw any blood on my face at all. :001_smile I don't understand how you guys manage to draw blood on such a frequent basis.

I do 3 passes -- WTG; XTG; and ATG. My kit consists of 2 EJ's with custom handles (my go-to razors); a Bluebeard Scimitar with custom handle; a long-handled Merkur Progress; and a Parker 45R. My favourite blade is Wilkinson with Derby Xtra as my second favourite. Even when experimenting with blades I can't come to terms with (Feathers and Supermax) I never see any blood.

Since I switched to Personna Lab Blue blades about two weeks ago I have yet to suffer so nuch as a weeper or nick. That's probably my personal best, including decades using carts.

I actually have no idea. Months ago, and that was because of being sleepy and clumsy. My shaves are normally bloodless :)

My blood letting is mostly due to not taking it easy over pimples, usually every couple of weeks.

+1 I DE shave my head too and due to having a thinner layer of fat under the skin on your head compared to your face, pimples & bumps are even less forgiving up there. Never anything serious though!

Shaving my face I rarely draw blood.

Head shaving is another story - I have been doing it so long sometimes I get careless and stop paying attention and then I feel the slice, usually from moving the blade sideways as I reposition it - on a side note, it is amazing how much blood comes from a scalp wound I sometimes think I should take pictures of the aftermath and sell them as crime scene photos ....
