what is the main difference in shaving brush thats used for creams as compared to those for shaving soaps

I can't say that any brush is designed for one or the other, just some with more 'backbone' (stay stiffer/ stronger vs. being floppy) are often found easier to lather soaps. The rigidness of them helps to create a lather.

Pretty much the same qualities desired in a brush used for "face lathering" too, but probably much more important for face lathering then for use on soaps.

+1 perfect explanation :thumbup1:

You don't need two brushes.

I used to load up soap with a floppy vulfix, a denser brush or boar just makes it easier. Creams will lather with anything pretty easily anyway.

Any brush can be used to make great lather from any cream or soap.

That said, some user prefer a more fan shaped brush with a shorter loft and more backbone for soaps and a bulb shaped brush with a slightly taller loft and slightly less backbone for creams.
