If you get a LOT of burning...... a lot, you could use a gel that is made for sunburns, it has aloe and lidocaine....that will stop the burning.....Walmart has a generic of that.....; the first time I tried to shave my head w an electric....I used it....and more than once to be able to sleep that night.

I like Proraso balm. It has a good mix of medicinal sting and soothing balm. I also use Hawkins & Brimble balm, but it feels like it has less medicinal qualities, so I pair it with Clubman Brandy Spice splash, which I really like the fairly mild aroma of.
Edit to add: I generally use cold water rinses in between passes and after shaving. I think that also helps.
