I bought a Dubl Duck Special No1 and this is how it turned up here

Anyways stripped it down and gave it a good clean, and a quick sand and polish and here is the same razor now.

Just have it to hone now and its ready to go....

You will be able to mate the more you do the better you get, And yes I'm still learning and having fun it's sure worthwhile as you see it all coming to life and giving the beauty back to the razors.

From today’s flea market. These will make some nice restores. 5 NOS celluloid faux ivory scales with fancy bolsters. The bolsters have the look to be German. No warps or signs of cell rot. As a kicker, seller threw in an empty W&B coffin

As promised got the 305 all done sporting Amber scales, and polished up and both are now finished.
Full hollow ground 305 Manaslu Nichirico Tokyo Japan 11/16th

And here are both side by side 605 in green and 305 in Amber

So that's 2 more added to my few razors ready for use.

They are both gorgeous. that is what I'm wanting to be able to do. I hardly ever see japanese razors cheap and even more rare to see them without scales. Where are you finding them at.

TBH I find them all over but I do have to hunt, as you say they don't come up often and I was lucky to get these 2.

Hi Ian, Whats your go-to method for restoring original scales?

You can and I start by stripping the razor down, then look at it all but I look to see how scratched the scales are. If they have lightish scratches then I go with fine wet and dry, 1k and work up just to remove the scratches so if the scratches are deeper. Then I go to a lower grit wet and dry and work up the progression until I'm happy with them, once at that stage I use a product called NOVUS Plastic Polishes as I have all 3 and I recommend it.
