Brazil Pocos de Caldas - Fazenda Barreiro, roasted a few snaps into second crack, as espresso and cappucino. Leathery goodness in a cup.

It's the middle-of-the-night, with temperatures in the low-60s and a 5mph breeze.

If I was back in Tel-Aviv, it would be in the low-40s, with much stronger winds and rain. I'd've already been to the shuk, and bought my fruit and vegetables for the coming week. The cholent would be in the crock-pot, and I'd be sitting at my favorite sidewalk cafe, sipping a hot, sweet glass of tea with "nana" ("nana" is Arabic, for "spearmint").

Spearmint plays a surprisingly major role in Middle Eastern drinks.
  • In winter, we add several sprigs to a pot of tea (and then drink lots of it!).
  • In summer, we'll pour a couple of liters of boiling water over a large bunch of spearmint, sweeten-and-refrigerate the resulting infusion, and later on, mix it 50/50 with water for a cool refreshing beverage.
But I'm here, not there, so I "settle" for Wissotzky[sup]*[/sup]...
