SWMBO had her birthday yesterday. She said, "take me over to Quality Seafood" for lunch. It's way on the other side of Austin, some call it the north. Anyway, the traffic was really bad and so was my attitude. When I took the first bite of their seafood gumbo my heart smiled.:001_smile

When we were through she said, "that was awesome!" "Now take me to the liquor store and buy us some moonshine." I said, "whaaaat???!!!" Don't argue with birthday women. :2guns:

We made it home safely.

Another no-knead rye loaf, this time with caraway. This turned out almost as good as the Julia Child, and it couldn't be much simpler to make. A larger version of this loaf might become a standard around the house.

Charcuterie at last nights wife's Christmas Party at the Fairmont downtown. Poured down rain the whole way there. It was a mad house trying to see the road and get there alive. But, it was worth it. The chicken and duck pate was fabulous. The log in the center was a spicy hot chorizo of some sort.
