An interesting and mercifully brief video covering the historical background to this!
I find the accusation "stolen", somewhat harsh however. "Inspired" has more dignity.

The dawn of the 50's paying homage to the 20's.
A common theme, the late 70's and early 80's being very into the 50's, the 90's basically copying much of the 60's, especially later Beatles styles (I'm looking at you Oasis) and the 2000's the 80's.

Oh I love this one. I was 9 and living in Southend On Sea, reading my 4 comics every Saturday when they got delivered, (Valiant And TV 21, Whizzer And Chips, The Beezer, The Beano) and eating ice cream and chocolate bars that tasted so good and with names you can't find anymore, and generally being 9.
It still reminds me of that feeling.
