What type of Gillette is this???

Anyone know what type of gillette this is and how much it is worth, i found it at a local antique store and wondering if the price is worth it.
Thanks, Nitro.

A little hard to tell from the pic, but looks like an Old Type. I can't make out the handle too well, so if it's a fancy pattern, then it's an ABC Old Type (American Button Co, made for Gillette).

ABC Pocket Edition - looks like an Empire - I can't tell from the pic whether the plating is good or not (nor if it is gold or silver).

these are quite desirable - and they are wonderful shavers!

what's the price?

I've seen them sell for $100. I've not paid that much for mine... but if the right one comes along, in the right metal, in the right condition, the day after payday - who knows?

It is a Gillette ABC pocket edition made in the early 1910s. It is a fairly rare pocket edition with the Empire design. Depending on the condition it could be worth $50-100 as a user-grade piece.... Collector's grade: maybe $150 or more if it is really nice with shipper, instructions etc.

Bythbook, it is silver or nickle in color with some plate loss on the handle, not too much though, the teeth seem all straight and it screws together very tight. If I were to buy it I would probably use it once then sell it for what I paid, a little too pricy and fancy for me though. They are asking 65 is that too much, I could probably get them down to 55?

I don't really know the value of these either, but if it were me, I'd probably offer $45 with a target of $55 (you'll have tax too, which is what there, 8%?).

And since no one else has mentioned it yet, if you're going to sell it after trying it, I'd be very interested in being on your short list of potential buyers .

T-rick if I do pick this up tomorrow you are definstly number one to recieve it, I was just checking to see if there was any one else, I will try to pick it up for 50 cash but we will see.

How did I miss this earlier!?! I've been looking for one of those with no luck. I would definitely pay $50 or more for this razor. I don't want to start a bidding war for that, but damn is it tempting. If T Rick backs out or loses interest or has a change of heart or anything like that, then please let me know. I will definitely make it worth your while.

To clarify, If you had to pay their asking price, and decided to sell it for more, I'd still be interested. But read below.

To be honest, first and foremost, the Mods are probably debating whether to let the thread stand as is, because this isn't the BST, and this type of thread has a way of turning "bad" (exactly as you describe).

Secondly, I'd advise the OP to simply keep it, as these are very cool, and while not as rare as Hen's teeth, they don't come along every day (others here have them, still others would no doubt pay a higher price that has been discussed- the valuation itself was one of the initial questions, and I'd not be surprised if others felt it was quite a bit more than has been discussed.

I can definitely assure the OP, that there is no shortage of interest for this razor, there are many here who would love to have it. As to the subject of me losing interest? That is not going to happen .

Well thanks for all the info, I will see if I can pick it up today, as far as selling it I thank everyone for their offers but as T Rick pointed out this is not the bst. I am very glad I was able to get this information.
Best Nitro.
