Maxpedition has some really tough bags. Plus, many of there bags are designed for carry; therefore, they are not man-purses.

I normally go with a backpack, but then again I suppose I may qualify as a "kid" around these parts.
I picked up a Bowery messenger bag a few months back and have been extremely happy with it. Easily carries my laptop, books and whatever else I'm lugging around:

There is never a reason to carry a manpurse. NEVER.

It's all good. I sport my fancy Italian Leather briefcase. My $450 brief. Yep. I'm cool like that.
What I ain't telling is, I paid a whopping $4 for it, took it home and shined it up to a beauty. Pretty good investment there.

I use my messenger bag strictly for work or school. Sometimes, I use it as an overnight bag.
Some of the bags previously mentioned in this thread are to casual for work, especially if you wear a suit to work?

Know what that is? Yeah, me neither. But, looking about I see soft sided ones going for 260 ish - little over 338.87 or close to. Minesuh hard shell.
The place I worked at in college sold scully briefcases and bags. I remember them being very well made...congrats.
