What the H**L is This???

Is this supposed to be a real razor or what? It came as part of a lot and there was a little tiny, rusty blade loose in the same box. Actually, it looked like half of a tiny blade and I could just make out the letters "ette" on it, but it didn't have a Gillette logo or anything on it. The handle is aluminum and the cap is thin silver plated brass. There is no blade bed, or it is missing. Is this a razor for midgets or a piece of jewelry that someone tried to use with a piece of a real blade? It's actually kind of cute but I can't imagine using it for anything serious.

It looks like someone fashioned that out of the old lead pipes they found in their basement. Or maybe they used the shrapnel left over after they threw a bottle of raid in the microwave. The least you can say about it is that it's unique haha

Yeah, it looks like it's missing a blade bed. But the gap is so wide on the safety bar that I could see a blade attaching directly to the handle stud. I should have kept that little blade because I think it actually fit that way. But it was rusty and scary looking so I tossed it. The head is really prettier than the pics and is definitely silver plated. I don't think it's something someone made in their garage. The handle looks professionally made. Maybe it's some type of advertising gizmo, although there's no name anywhere on it.

I think it may be used to shave callouses, not whiskers. The fact that it had a tiny blade points in that direction.

Or it might have a medical/surgical application.

In any case, nice find.

When they talk about "no Pressure" they might add this razor to the mix,"NO BLADE", completely comfortable shave without irritation. No hair loss is an added benefit!:laugh::lol::lol:

Holy cow. That's scary. Look how the blade warps in the closeup view:

Yeah, I think it's for shaving that little cleft under your nose!!! Or else, it's so rare because the company got sued out of existence by a bunch of people with furrows and gouges in their faces.

Actually, I think it's a rather elegant design. It's simple and it uses the absolute minimum number of parts. It's really a rather elegant piece of engineering. It wouldn't surprise me to learn that it worked really well.

Well, I have a pair of hemostats here that I could elegantly hold a blade with, and not a special, unavailable blade either. :001_smile
Seriously though, that curve in the blade is disconcerting. The gap in the safety bar is relatively huge. I'm not sure what you'd shave with it. If you have little tiny armpits you'd like to shave, I'd be happy to sell you mine. OTOH, if the blade was held flat, it might make a cute little cootchie razor.

Again, I'm pretty sure that it was designed to shave callouses. I've never seen one that took a full size DE blade. Most of them use a blade about 1 inch wide. But the wide gap and lack of a bottom plate point it in that direction.

It may have some other medical or surgical purpose, but I can't think of one.

I seriously doubt its for shaving.

Yeah, you're probably right. The head is pretty flimsy though and will bend with the slightest pressure. I don't think it would last a day around my callouses. I sure can't think of anything else realistic. The case and packaging look like something pedontic (is that a word?) instead of the mediical or surgical market. But what do I know?
