Carter Monroe
Homemade Orange/Basil Soap
Semogue Boar
Nivea

Freshly rehoned Merkur Solingen, not by choice. The story is in the what did you hone today thread. Proraso red and Proraso balm. Not my best shave. I guess I will have to work on my edge some more. Nobody ever said this was going to be easy! Haha
That finisher looks like it could use some work on the edges and the flat. I think the uneven bevel at the toe is a result of lifting up the spine by stabilizer and hitting those rough corners at the wrong angle as a result of both of these.

I would round the edges of all the stones in the progression and go back to a bevel setter being careful not to ride up by the stabilizer, and using angles strokes to keep the heel off the stone.

You could remove some of the heel, too, to make things easier.

You could also start by finishing on a synthetic, and make sure you can get some good edges there before moving on to natural finishers.

I did have some issues with the stabilizer. I could round the corners a little more. The finisher flat looked great until I ran the slurry stone over it. Which I didn’t see the scratches until I got to water. I am going to eliminate the slurry all together. The rockstar 10k is a finer finish anyway. I think the blade has a slight warp in it also. Like most of mine. It’s going to take some practice to dial it in.

Thanks for the advise. It is appreciated. I will keep at it. I’m still mad at myself for messing up the edge on this razor anyway. Haha

ETA: the toe looks bad in the pic. I think it’s a water drop. But the bevel is uneven for sure.

Puma 39 6/8
Tony Miller 3" Heirloom linen and rough horse strop
White Tam O'Shanter Scotch Hone, water finish

It is Griffith day, source of both the Puma and the hone. I haven't picked up an SR in some time for a variety of reasons. Elbow tendinitis and time constraints in the main.

Great shave, great gear. Something to celebrate.
