4th time with a straight razor. Getting better and better. 2 passes with few pickups.
Gold dollar 208
Razorock monster 26mm plissoft
Stirling scots pine sheep
Razorock irish countryside AS
Proraso white balm
Changed most of my setup today for the first time in a week.
Soap: TOBS lavender Cream
Brush: SOC
Cup: Colonel Conk shaving mug (replacing an NPR coffee mug)
Razor: Ludo Red Imp 132 wedge
Aftershave: Speick Balsam Sensitiv (not shown)
I’ve been saying for weeks now that the SOC is breaking in. I think today I can change that to “the SOC is broken in”. Maybe I loaded the TOBS cream a little hard since I spent most of the last week with a badger brush on hard soap, but the lather exploded in the cup. The photo below is what was left after the 3rd pass. Most of my razors are noisy full hollows, but this Red Imp wedge shaves just fine!
I haven't been getting the time for straight shaves recently. Heck I had 4 days' growth to clearcut today!
Prep with mentholated Col Conk Amber
Wacker 'Saturday' horn/black oxide full hollow 5/8
Stropped 50/100/200 diamond pasted balsa
Kanayama 30000
Arko stick lathered
Two passes, sideways neck cleanup courtesy of a Schick I2 Hydromagic
Nice, smooth, comfortable and close - played out of some deep rough on the first pass. This Wacker has substantial scales for a 5/8. Maybe that's how they justify the price of a seven day set.
Hot Towel Prep
P&B Albion Shave Soap
Morris&Forndran Blonde Badger .. Style 1/ Size 2
Thiers-Issard Le Grelot Like in Dark Horn
Scrupleworks Veggie Tanned Horse .. 40/60
Bloc Osma
Thayer's Witch Hazel .. Rose Petal
D.R. Harris Windsor AfterShave Splash
The T-I razor, in C-135 Carbonsong steel takes some extra work, on the hones, and the strop, but it's all worth it. It is truly the "wedgiest" blade I've got in the stable. Truth be told, I'm not a huge fan of razors with a thumbnotch. I rarely use them, and they disturb my stropping a wee bit..
The soap was a gift from a friend...
On older Blonde Badger.. a very nice brush..
A nice, refreshing shave.........
Razor: Friodur 472 13/16
Brush: Heritage Collections 26mm gelled boar
Pre-shave: PAA Cube 2.0
Shave Bowl: Van Yulay honeycomb bowl
Soap: Razorock New York
Post Shave: Duke Cannon Ice Cold After-Shave Balm
Proraso Green After Shave Lotion
Second time using a sponge for blade/lather removal, works great.
First time using Duke Cannon Balm, nice scent, works very similar to Nivea Balm except with the addition of menthol.
Modified (out of necessity) Tally Ho,
MicroMatic Clog-Pruf for head,
Stick Schick and Agar oil for edging,
Stirling Nag Champa soap because I enjoy it so!
