What size container for soaps?

Maybe someone can help me out or point me in the right direction. A while back I came across a posting by someone directing me to this website:

http://www.thesage.com/catalog/Jars.html

This website sells plastic containers and lids. If I remember correctly, it was the size 89 Jar with lid. For the life of me, I cannot remember whether it was the 4 oz or 6 oz variety.

So I pose the question: What is better suited for placing most shaving soaps refills in ... a 4 oz container or a 6 oz container?

I just bought a 2-cup sized glass bowl with a plastic lid for my AOS lemon puck: http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/product.asp?SKU=15166444 (I actually bought it at Marshall's for $3. FTW!) The bowl is obviously bigger than the custom wood bowl from AOS, but the extra size eliminates the lather mess. With the puck placed upside down and softened by the first wet brush loading, the puck is nicely secured at the base of the bowl without the need to manually mill it.

From thesage.com site, it's a bit skimpy on dimension details, though, it does list the 6oz jar as 1.5" tall. If it helps, my AOS puck has a 3 1/4" diameter and 5/8" height. You could always get the bigger one and mill the soap.

Most soaps will be either 3.5 or 4 oz. So if you want a little room to swirl and such get the larger ones, if you want it full to the top get the 4 oz.

In my own experience, I prefer a 6 or 7 oz container.

They leave enough room to swirl the brush. If the soap is close to level with the lip of the container, you will have a lot of mess as lather falls over the sides as you work the brush.

On the cheap side, I find that ziploc "XS" works well. Those are 1-cup, and I imagine any 1-cup round container would work about at well.
