What Shavette / Barber Razor Did You Use Today?

Dave himself

Wee Words of Wisdom
Vanta RA111 GSB blade.
VDH soap/Semogue brush/Thayers Rose Petal Toner followed with Old Spice.
Second shave better outcome with 3 or 4 weepers. More nicks better shave. Next time will be better. My oldman neck is a problem area. I lathered and shaved my neck first so my cheeks weren't slick and I could stretch my face better.
Rub your finger tips on an alum block and you'll have no problem with skin stretching 😉.

Saturday 8/10 Shave - Austere August Day 10

One of the reason for doing this was the brush.
It's breaking in nicely. Not hogging Lather.
This was one of the Best Shaves so far.

It's hard to beat an Omega boar. Their badgers are nice also.

What with discussion of the Parker PTB in t'other thread, I thought I would break out the trusty Sanguine, which is the shavette that started it all for me. I looked on eBay and they are now £5.50, so they have gone up a bit since I bought mine, but inflation is going to inflate I suppose!

Great shave. DFS++. No blood. No drama. The SuperMax Blue Diamond Platinum probably isn't my favourite shavette blade, but it does a good enough job. I remember the very first shave I had with this razor and what a mess I made - patience and practice really do pay off.

In addition to the above, I finished with some Nivea balm. I have always been a "no balm" guy, as under normal circumstances my skin doesn't need it and it just makes any post-shave irritation worse. However, I am discovering that a small application 10 minutes after shaving gives me a bit more leeway to use fragranced soaps that I would otherwise find too drying.

Quick shave with the SR. DFS++. The good is that I worked out a new skin stretching move. The bad is that once I finished my shave I noticed a spot on my chin that I had missed. I had already rinsed out my brush. No problem. It's tiny. I can tidy that up without lather. And that's when I managed to cut myself. It's barely visible, but I still reprimanded myself for not knowing better!
