what razor is this?

Hello,

i'm new to the forum, i need help in recognizing a razor. I've been told it's a gillette tech with a non original handle.
Is it at least the head original?

Yes, this is a Tech head. Handle could be from a Star or Personna.

I get too confused when it comes to all those Gillette Tech variants.

I had the idea that the Tech caps with that chamfer on them were later models and made of zamac.
That's the cap only, not the base plate.
That chamfered cap came out about 1966.

Yeah, but this is from England…who the heck knows what those Brits are up to.

HaHa...so true.
But...only the baseplate is marked Made in England.
The other bits (cap/handle) may be just some random bits put together (Handle sure does look like a Star).
I do that with Made in USA Tech cap, plus Made in England RFB baseplate, plus a Gillette OLD type handle.
Sometimes I change the baseplate out to a 7-O-Clock baseplate.
At least with Gillette you do get a fair few parts that will all fit together across many years of manufacture, and still make up a workable razor.
Must admit...my RFB baseplate and Tech cap does produce a gnarly razor. Shaves like a demon!
