We just have a couple of fish, but several times a year we babysit a dog for a friend when she goes of on holidays for a few weeks at a time. The dog is a well-behaved female Eskipom (American Eskimo Dog + Pomeranian), about 11 years old. She's always happy to be with us because we take her for walks in new and different places, but she's certainly happy when her owner comes to pick her up.
The last time, her owner said that she tried to ask her what she did with us, but was told "what happens at the Roses stays at the Roses".
Every once in a while though, my wife will browse through puppy rescue and adoption sites.

Two guinea pigs
Yesterday my wife turned to me and said (apropos of nothing) "If you die I'm going to buy a puppy".
I replied "If you die I'm going to buy a cat" (which she is allergic to).
Then I added "I'd like to have a Savannah Cat - a hybrid of a serval and a regular domestic cat".
We have a standard poodle, Lucy "the wonder dog." She is incredibly smart. Often, when I shave in the morning she sits and watches me shave. If I make the mistake of leaving the drawer where I store my brushes and razors open she will "select" a brush for me (at least that's what my wife claims when I try to retrieve the brush.)
4.5 y/o black lab named Wyoming and a 20 gal aquarium with a pleco and a silver dollar.
