What other blades are you using?

Gents,

What blades besides feathers are you using while method shaving? I haven't branched out, but I'd be curious to try the supermax blue diamonds:

Or the supermax sunrise or platinum. Anyone try those? I'd love to split an order, if anyone's interested.

Let me know if there are other blades that approximate feathers for you.

I have not been thrilled by Feathers, and have found Derby blades to be inconsistent. For MS, I simply use the blades I like best for any shaving: RP's, Wilkinson, and (though my experience with these two is limited): 7:00 Platinums and Crystals.

The only two blades I use regularly are Feathers and Bics. The Bics work especially well with either Method or regular soaps and creams.

The rest of the time I use the straight.

I also like the Blue Isreali (Crystals) and Gillette 7:00 blades.

Astra Superior Platinums have emerged as my favorite. I can use Feathers without bleeding but they leave me too raw and make me end the shave early unless I want serious razor burn/tight face. Red Pack Personnas are nice but I find they aren't sharp enough for my tough areas (chin) on the third form or ATG. Astras to me are just as smooth as Red Packs but a notch sharper.

I've been using Red Israelis until yesterday, when I popped-in a Feather. The resulting shave was definitely smoother (5:00 shadow didn't come until this morning) but the irritation was definitely greater. I shaved again this morning with the Feather and again experienced more irritation on the tough spots. I may go back to my Red IPs for a bit.

I like the sharpness of Feathers, but have found that it doesn't last and that they tend to be inconsistent. To me, their advantages don't justify their costs. Blades are strange in that most all the brands have their followers and their detractors.
