Have been following another thread dealing with blades, and noticed "zamak" came up as a metal used in some razors. Was wondering what my 50s Gillette was made from so I held a magnet up to it. It is not steel! Doesn't feel like aluminum. What were the SuperSpeeds made from?

Stamped brass.
old Gillettes like that are typically plated brass, yeah. Not sure how many razors back then used zamak if at all

Thanks! Now I remember! Brass! (Explains why the worn spot looks gold!)
Yes they are solid brass under the nickel or gold plating. Extremely durable.
