What is your favorite Scotch ?

Just as the title says, what is your favorite Scotch? The one you pick up the most. For me it is something I recently discovered, Aberfeldy 12 year. I just love the taste. And the price is not bad either. Where I am I paid $48.00.

Whatever is in my glass, be it an Ardbeg, a Cardhu, a Macallan, a Dalmore, a Laphroig, a Bowmore, an Aberlour, a Glen Rothes, a Dalwhinnie, a Highland Park, a Srathisla, a Scapa, a Glenmorangie, a Glenlivet, a Glenfiddich, a Dewer's, a Famous Grouse, a Johnny Walker red, whatever. I have even enjoyed a Cluny on the rocks. Scotch is good. There is enough excellent Scotch out there in close to affordable prices, that I feel no need to chase premium stuff. Ditto for bourbon and rye.

The Scotch I buy most often is Grand Macnish in a 1.75 liter plastic bottle.

I'm one of those guys that prefers a blended Scotch as my regular Scotch, and then mix in a single malt here and there. My favorite blended at the moment is Dewars 12yr aged in first fill bourbon casks. Outstanding, and Whisky Advocate magazine agrees.

For anyone intrigued by Islay but not ready for the full force of smoke, peat, iodine, etc., that one get from Laphroaig and the like, I recommend the regular Bowmore with some ice in a rocks glass. Fall is the perfect time of year for it.

AnCnoc 12 year old. Pronounced Ah Knock.

A lovely Highland dram. Nearly Speyside in its presentation but with more complexity. Knockdhu distillery to the NW of Aberdeen.

Jim Murray describes it as hidden Scottish gem, or words to that effect.

At AUD$90, its a steal.
