What is your definition of Wet Shaving?

To me if your using any Straight, SE, DE, or Disposable with foam, soap or water your wet shaving.

Back 50 years ago when everyone and their broth were try electric razor. Many people used a pre-shave that was liquid to as a pre shave. It was if I recall oil, and help with skin irritation.

So my question is was that also wet shaving?

Never stay with electric long as they did one thing well for me. Ingrown hairs ouch.

Any kind of shaving the includes water is wet shaving.

To me it’s the act of brushing on a lather and enjoying the feel and smell of a good soap, the performance of a good razor and blade combo. Everything else is just shaving, a boring chore. I never enjoyed fan foam and the razor burn of a cartridge. Electric shaving was never an option for me, my beard is too coarse and thick.

Water is wet. Presumably even our long-ago ancestors using broken shells had ready access to water. In a pinch, other liquids are available. Electric razors are just dumb.

What I do is hobby shaving. (Nerd shaving?) I guess if you shave with NOS, fixed up, or self-built electric razors, you are hobby shaving too.

For me, wet shaving is any shaving method that incorporates brush, soap and water before a sharp edge touches the skin. Electric shavers do not have sharp edges and canned goo does not count, even if used with a brush.

There is a difference between wet shaving and traditional wet shaving.

That is exactly how I differentiate what I do from what the guy with a five-bladed cartridge does: "traditional".

Although even then, with things like the Leaf and the Henson (not to mention the High Proof) the boundaries between what constitutes "traditional" and what is modern are starting to get a bit blurry.

Electric razors just dumb?

Curious, what makes electric razors dumb?

This. Or it didn’t happen.

I don't really have a definition. It's not a term I use. I'm not offended by it, but it doesn't seem very useful. Many electric razors can now be used wet.
