What's new

What is up with this?

I have another conundrum. I have this razor that looks to be a three-piece tech fat handle but the cap has short positioning bars. These short positioning bars are depicted in the Gillette Handbook on page 212 as being a #154 cap and associated with the period of "The New" as opposed to "Tech." All the other razors like this that I see on eBay have a cap that has a solid continuous bar. Can anyone shed some light on this? Is this a razor with a cap from a different era than the guard? Thought?

My pre-war, like yours, has the same:

I’ve seen pre-war have either the solid bar or the split bar. Both are probably original to the razor.

There are multiple examples of both on the Bay right now. There are even some post-war with the split bar.
