I saw this on ebay and aparently it is for your strop. Read the directions and still a confused what it is for.

Just a heads up, you're not supposed to link to a live auction, but you could link to the images instead (the image can be used to easily search for the auction) and people could still see the item and the instructions
It looks like it's used to burnish the leather, making the suede side of the strop smoother so that it can be used prior to finishing on the usual side. Same thing that might happen if you rubbed any metal tube/rod or a glass bottle quickly over the surface. As for repairing wrinkles, the friction warms the leather and the pressure flattens it back out, again something that a glass bottle does pretty well too.
Being a metal tube that creates a static charge, I'm more curious about if it would do anything for cleaning a fabric component of a strop?
My guess is it would be of no real benefit to the finished side of a good condition strop
He can't link to an active ebay auction.
Please stop being so helpful.
And Auctiva is an image hosting site, not a live auction, without any link back to the auction....was just trying to offer a suggestion for him to edit himself before a mod had to. It'd be easier to search ebay based on a textual description than to scroll through page after page trying to match a picture to a specific listing.
If gearchow felt the need to edit the link from my post, I disagree with the reasoning, but fine, whatever, not a big deal in the least.
However, is there really a need for a second mod to come in and make a snide comment after the fact? "Please stop being so helpful"? I'm sorry, I've been debating about even responding, but I've gotta say that's a pretty insulting and immature way to moderate a forum.
6. To prevent abusive advertisement, no member shall direct other members, either through direct hotlink or indirectly through comments or other means, to any live e-Bay auctions or other auction sites.
Do not post URLs, item numbers, or seller IDs or any similar information unless that e-Bay auction has a "buy it now" price or is contained within an e-Bay storefront.
Members should also use good judgment in posting information that may reference specific active auctions, particularly if the extra attention drawn to it would be unwanted by other members who may be bidding.
The reason for the prohibition of linking to live auctions is to prevent bidding wars.

Okay did want to cause an issue with this post. Sorry about that, my bad. Lessoned learned.
