What's new

What is the slimmest and lightest knife you own? 2 1/2 inch or longer blade.

Of the knives you own, what is the slimmest and lightest overall? I’m only interested in knives with at least a 2 1/2 or longer blade, as I generally carry a knife in the three inch range. It doesn’t necessarily have to be a factory knife. If you found a really nice custom I’d like to see it too.

Without measuring and weighing, I'm going to say my Mercator Black Cat. My Douk-Douks are just as slim, but I think they weigh more.

Victorinox Bantam? They do have one that just has the blade, and I think it is the same 2.5" blade, but the Bantam is easier to find and the bottle opener is worth a little extra width IMO.

I have a few higonokamis, different sizes. This one is the smallest one I have, about 2.75" blade. Disappears into my pockets. Non locking of course so some care is required in use.

Wow, a black cat knife! I didn’t know they were still made. I had one when I was about 15-16, and I’m over 70 now. The handle was folded steel then.

Unfortunately, my favorite pocket knife is no longer made in the spear point blade.... but I carry mine every day.. the SpyderCo Native 5... They still make other blade versions... It's a lightweight knife but has everything I like. I see them every so often posted on eBay with the spear point but they are pretty expensive now... NOS... etc...

Spyderco Chaparral with birdseye maple scales. 2.5" blade by my measure, 2.79" by specification.

It's Spyderco's version of a gentleman's pocketknife, and I think it's great.

Under the weather today so I will only post pictures if someone requests it.

That's a beauty.... Sorry you aren't feeling well.... Here's a stock photo of it:

Seconding what Legion said, the Bantam is spot on, Alox if you want the thinner and lighter (6mm thick and 29 grams from specs online).

I believe you're thinking of the Solo Alox, which is both longer (93mm vs 84mm closed length and longer blade to suit), thicker and heavier than the Bantam Alox.

That's cool! That is a great modification. I see you are using a carbon steel bladed version as well. I own both the stainless and the carbon steel versions and I do like the carbon steel version better.
It is, as long as you force a patina on the blade when you get it. otherwise it tends to rust in a sweaty summer pocket.
