I do a rough pass with the Wahl clippers (model 9247) I use for my head (and beard when not shaving), then a second pass with a Braun Series 3000 battery powered trimmer, discontinued model now.
Gotta put in a plug for Wahl. Had mine for well over a decade, cost about $80 IIRC, and besides replacing the blades once, they have never let me down. I do clean them regularly and keep them oiled, and they are not being used a lot. But still good value. One of the best birthday presents I have ever had.
