What is the best way?

I just purchased a vintage Pure Badger brush. It is like new, but I need to make sure that it is safe to use. How do I go about sanitizing the thing. A friend says to use anti-bacterial soap, give it a good lathering, and finish it off with hair conditioner. Another says to soak it in rubbing alcohol and rinse it out. What is the best way? Thank you!

Soak it in a diluted mixture of barbicide and water. About a capfull to 2 cups water. Wash out with antibacterial soap and set out in sun for 4-5 hours.

Spot on.... although I just use regular bar soap followed by a good soak in warm water and a lot of rinsing

That is the method I use, probably should do it more often though.
