What is the best process/product to waterproof leather boots?

Hey guys,

I plan on picking up a pair of llbeans Handsown bison leather chukka boots or a pair of cole haan's. My question is as stated above: what is the best way to go about waterproofing them? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I love that stuff, but it seems more of a leather treatment than a real waterproofer. I'd certainly give them some LP love, and maybe finish that off with a "outer shell" of waterproofing ...
