What is the best part of wet shaving for you?

I know we will be tempted to answer "the entire experience". But if you had to break it down what would be the best part for you?

Working the brush and soap?
Shaving with a DE or straight?
The aftershave?

The calmness and focus needed to do a good job. And, after a good shave, the pleasure of a job well-done.

Toothpick

Needs milk and a bidet!
tough question.

it varies with me. right now it's the soap/brush. building a lather.

a few weeks ago I was really enjoying different aftershaves.

a few months ago I was really enjoying using different razors.

I always enjoy using different blades. (now that I've found 2-3 that work perfectly for me of course)

I love the sensory experience of it all: the warm water prep; the scents from the soap/cream, aftershave; hearing the blade cut the hairs

For me it’s the time to forget work and worries and concentrate on the shave. It’s thinking about my dad when I pick up his razor, purchased in 1948, the year my parents were married.

The ritual...being able to take the time out to forget the day's troubles as I mainly shave evenings, a little music and some me time no matter how long I take it is all about finding that little moment of respite from the daily grind. A good shave with superior quality products done right, extremely good for the moral.

I appreciate the ritual also...it gives me a half hour in my morning all for myself (ahh the joys of two bathrooms; his and hers...) as for the specs; it's putting on a good lather and hearing the sound of the blade cutting the stubble. Every razor I own delivers a unique shave and it's results immediately visible...!

When I am face lathering it gives me a feel for how good the upcoming shave will be. Likewise, while applying AS I get confirmation about the quality of the shave I just completed. One of these phases is my favorite.

It is close but I think "AS Application" is my favorite phase.

choosing my setup for the days shave and the aftershave. I was never a 'scents' guy until I started DE shaving...never used an as and only on the rarest of occasions would I wear a cologne. Now however I thoroughly enjoy that nice finishing touch of as as a nice exclamation mark to start my day.

The ice face rub. After the last cold rinse I use a piece of ice to rub the face. Love it. And then jojoba oil as AS balm.

The ritual of the whole experience. Taking the time for myself in the evening. Nothing else matters except for focusing on the moment. It is a time of day where I don't have to fret about the trials of the day, or even worry about what is going to come tomorrow. It is the essence of living in the moment.
