Currently I use a body wash that comes in a plastic bottle (Nivea Cool with menthol). I'd like to use a moisturizing bar soap with a neutral or masculine scent (I won't use my wife's dove bar).

I like the Mitchell's Wool Fat bath soap.
I used to think that. Then I tried it. Now I don't know why I ever thought that.
If you can't get over your Dove hang-up (which, btw, comes in a neutral-unisex flavor), try J.R. Liggett's. Pricier but good.
Check out Hugo Naturals soaps. They come in a variety of scents. They're pretty great. Glycerin is the number one ingredient.
KMF makes some pretty nice bar soaps, too, and around here they sell them at the vitamin/nutrition store.

I have tried numerous natural/brand name soaps (MWF, KMF Olive, Olivella, Speick, Jason Natural, almost all DR bronners in bar and liquid, et et et)
the only soap that doesn't dry my skin is the good ol Irisch Spring Original..Cheap, nice scented, and widely available

Dove has an unscented version for sensitive skin that works well for me
This years find is an olive oil soap from the dollar store that has 3 ingredients total and other than the slightly raw smell of olive oil, works exceedingly well on my dry as bark skin. I have stocked up on it to get through this winter and probably the next as well

Is Dove in the US real bar-soap, or like in Europe pressed shower-gel (Sodium Lauroyl Isethionate)?
I picked up a bar of olive oil soap at a local perfume shop. It is unscented, and contains 72% olive oil. It's by far the most moisturizing bar soap I've found. It seems like I have tried every "moisturizing" body wash on the market, and this is the only thing that helps my dry skin in the winter.
This is fantastic, we have it too.
IMO Hugo bar soaps tend to be a little drying. I'm using a Giovanni Organic bar soap and it's very moisturizing (contains shea butter, mango and sea kelp) and it's cheaper than Hugo's.
Dove about 98% of the time.. MWF bar when I happen to have one.
I second the L'Occitane bars. Very moisturizing and the scents are superb. Vetyver and Eaux de Baux.
U.S made Yardley. The English Lavender fragrance is very reminiscent of old English Lavender toiletries for men. It moisturizes pretty well too. It's about a dollar a bar and can be found in most grocery stores as well as dollar stores.
