What is it worth?

Depends on the condition, plating loss, lazy doors, etc.

Between 10 and 25, if I were made to give a price-is-right style range.
And that $25 SS would have to be just awesome.

I put one in B/S/T and I has AU$25 (US$23) on it, I thought it's excellent but no interest from Australia, may open it up to worldwide shipping.

The one i found was in what i consider to be ok condition. It had no cracks at all that i noticed, but did have some marks on the head, it was also a bit dull in areas, like under the gaurd, the handle, and under the head. It had not been cleaned. It is $8 + tax, non negotiable. Is that a good price, It was 100% mechanically perfect, the only thing is that i know nothing about this razor, except was able to identify it really fast.

I did buy a slim adjustable there with a black handle for 7, it was code O 1. They had another razor, it was 3 pieces, but was not marked with a name any where, It had a comb guard on both sides, had a straight handle, with a small band with no grip near the bottom of the handle that had a date on it. It said it was silver, it had a dull light green tinge on the surface, no scratches that i remember, it was $10, but i was reluctant to buy it because i could not identify it.

It's worth what you (or someone else) is willing to pay for it. Why do you want it? Collection for display, resell on the bay for a potential profit, or rotational use? I would easily pay $10 for a Bulldog. I've found other sets in antique stores that were probably priced right, but weren't interesting to me so I didn't pick them up. I also know a guy who bought a Travel Tech for $20 because he wanted it.

Pics would help with identification. Check out this site and see if you can positively identify the razor.

bull dogs are really rare and tripple plated in silver and usually clean up real easily. buy it, $10 is a huge bargain.

It has the date in place just like the bulldog but no, symbol under the head, the pattern on the handle might be slightly dif, it maybe a pre- pat one, idk, you still think i should go for it?

Does it look like this:

If so, I say go for it. If it doesn't clean up well enough for display, you will still have a great shaver.

That pic is a double ring. All I know about those is that they are coveted by a lot of members. At $10, that is a bargain.

for some reason i got confused, thinking it was the same thing, do you kno if they had the emblem on them any where because this one has none

Sorry, I've never seen one in the wild. There are several members here who have one in captivity who may be able to help you.

The pics on Mr. Razor's site don't show the detail you are looking for. Wish I could help more.

well considering how old it is it might be worth picking up. Its at an antique mall nearby. They dont have a clue what things are worth, guy told me the gillette travel was a womans razor, and the handle was made small so they would have more control, when shaving. They also had 3 old spice shaving mugs. They where all priced different. the highest was 32 the lowest was$ 8. Among other badly off prices.

Go for it. Post some pics when you get it. I'm sure you will get some comments about it, especially if you score a Double Ring for $10.

Are you sure it has both rings near the head, or could it look just like that but without the second ring?

If it has both (Double Ring, the first model marketed by Gillette and only for a few years), RUN, do not walk, to pick it up at anything under $100 (perhaps even $200).

If OTOH, it is a Single Ring, they are much more common. Still a great shaver, and $10 is IMO a good deal, though I've actually seen and bought them for less (and more). Much depends on the condition, and if it has a case and it's condition.

Okay, markings. I saw in another thread you are asking. There are no markings on the head of a Double Ring at all. It will have the Patent Numbers you've mentioned (Nov. '04 and later) or Patent Applied For (pre-Nov. '04). The serial number will appear on the stem of the cap retaining nut (unscrew from the handle) and the year can be determined from that.

The above also applies to the early Single Rings. The serial number was moved from the cap retaining nut to the top of the blade guard (on the head, covered by the cap) around 1912. A Gillette mark appeared on the underside of the head somewhere around 1918.

HTH.

The reason that the Double Ring does not have the Gillette Diamond trademark is because the model ended in 1906 and the Gillette Diamond was not introduced until 1908.

It has to be a double and not a single then. It said pat nov. 15 04'.
I unscrewed it and looked at every part of the head and saw no data of any kind. They are holding it for me now, do the singles have the pat no nov ,15 04' on them also?
