What I used today

I used a home made pre-shave oil, a Merkur 39C( Sledge Hammer) with a PolSilver super iridium blade, Edwin Jagger Sea Buckthorn cream, and Baxter of California aftershave balm. I heated up my water and put some in my brush scuttle and shave scuttle. I like to get hot lather. I lathered up my Sea Buckthorn cream in the shave scuttle with little water.(I've been using TOBS lately and TOBS likes a lot of water. This is not a knock against TOBS, but I just wasn't used to not using a lot of water) The cream made a lot of lather enough for multiple passes. I hadn't used Sea buckthorn for awhile so I figured I would try to use up a tube that's almost gone. I'd forgoten how this smelled and performed. I got a BBS and a very enjoyable shave this morning. I cold rinsed and stubble hunting and cleaned everything up. The Baxter Of California was the cherry on the wipped cream. Just enough menthol and a citrus scent. I made my own aftershave balm that gives me a five minute menthol kick. I got a real good enjoyable shave this morning that's nice smooth. I'm rubbing my face as I'm typing this. Do you self a favor and the Edwin Jagger Sea Buckthorn cream. I think you'll like it.

Thanks for the tip. The merkur slant plus polys are one of my favorite combos as well.
I've only had the razor for a few months. Are there other blade combos you like?

39C ... my next acquisition - my 37c wants a big brother!

I used a Shovelhead SE razor with a GEM PTFE (Ted Pella) blade this morning, got a DFS - almost BBS- shave,; it really amplifies the stubble being cut and is a very comfortable razor, even if it is sorta small!

I like the Gillette's in the black box, the Astra SP's Voshkod's , Personna in the red box all with the 39C. I really like the Voshkod's above all of these.

I use a Shovelhead too, and I get BBS better with it than I get with my 39C. I can use it everyday too,but not the 39C.
