What happened to all the Rooney/Shavemac/Simpson threads?

There used to be a lot more threads on these brands, has interest died off (flavor of the month?) or is it because nothing new has come out?

My guess is that, with all the info on the board, it's easy to build a pretty solid knowledge base via searching? I can't imagine any of these brushes losing steam. Rooneys are pretty much the standard "first good brush" recommendation (the 1/1 and 3/1 particularly), and Shavemacs are simply decadent.

There was a deluge of threads when the Shavemac D01 craze started, then the interest in custom loft Shavemac finest badgers. Also a ton of threads when the Rooney specials (pure and super silvertip) came out from Vintage Blades. Nothing really new has happened with these brands since then, so it's natural the number of threads has died off.

I wouldn't call all of them decadent. It's the buyer's pride and enjoyment.

I think that's exactly right. YoMuppet has some amazing information in old threads on the Rooney line. There is only so much one can say - even though so many of us adore them. The (my) love for these brushes has not diminished one jot or iota. As for the Shavemacs, the 177 was my first high end brush, father's day one year ago. It is still a top favorite and gets used regularly.

True. Good point. The 177s, however, deserve that title, IMHO.
