What Handle Did You Use Today?

DSCosmetic AX Ti 1.55 Poleaxe on DSC Destroyer Ti handle.

I initially bought the Destroyer Titanium handle for my Mühle R89. I somehow never really warmed up to the Traditional Müle handle as its is a bit short, thin, but then rather wide at the pommel. The Destroyer worked much better on the R89, but after a while the combination of the zamak head and titanium handle somehow bothered me, not in a real, rational way but more like in an OCD-way. So, I got the AX titanium head in the highest blade gap to pair with the Destroyer handle for a full titanium razor. Of course, I needed another titanium handle, 'cause variety! The DSC Pioneer titanium handle joined shortly thereafter, and now I alternate both handles whenever the Ax Ti razor comes up in my rotation.

This 32g Rosseforp hollow handle was wonderful with my Timeless Ti .95 today. I really enjoy the lighter weight of this handle compared to the TiBam Ti handle I usually use with the Timeless.

Yaqi Harlequin on Razorock UFO handle

The RR UFO handle is the perfect match for the Yaqi Harlequin head. Both in looks and utility. The only small gripe I have with this handle is that it is a tad too short for my taste. 90mm would have been better (for me). Nevertheless, it's a fantastic handle with exceptional grip, good weight and width. The little "UFO-end" at the pommel suits very well for resting on the pinky finger while shaving. This razor with this grip is one of my nicest looking shaving tools in my den.

Mühle R41 on Parker 98R handle

The "ultra heavy weight" 98R handle (Parker's words...not mine), works very well with the R41. The weight of the handle is very helpful in maintaining zero pressure on the razor and letting gravity do the work. I never liked or enjoyed the Mühle "Traditional" zamak handles (too short, too light, too slim). This handle is kind of perfect for the R41 (long enough, heavy enough, wide enough).

This handle is like putting training wheels and a tractor weight on a M 1000 RR bike. It'll tame it right down, but you know you'll get there.

Great description. It’s interesting how different handles can tame or turn wild a particular razor. But the taming is certainly part of the fun in this journey! Enjoy your shaves!
